The training manual Treatment training for advocates contains 8 modules with questions and answers. Subjects start from the basics: CD4, viral load, combination therapy and side effects, to brief overviews of the main opportunistic infections. There is a module on pregnancy and another module on IV drug users and treatment. There is a module on basic science concepts.

This course is written by treatment advocates who have had no formal medical training and who are mostly HIV-positive – and we’ve tried to remember the biggest surprises that we found as we developed our own treatment knowledge.
