Search
Check spelling
The search engine will try to find words
that sound similar, but words that are spelled correctly will give better results.
Leave out short words
The search engine ignores common, short words like and, the and in. Don't start an exact phrase with this kind of word – leave it out.
Use quotation marks to find an exact phrase
Use quotation marks to find a phrase, or words next to each other, for example, "our
pledge on treatment".
All words v any words
Searching for all words gives results where every word appears. Searching for any words gives results where at least 1 of the words appears – eg searching for our treatment pledge looks for our, pledge and treatment, but not necessarily in that order. Any word searches return more results, but can be too broad. All word search return fewer results but can be too narrow.
Use several words
The search results will return more refined results from 2 or 3 words than from a single word.
Exclude and include words using + and -
Use + to include a word eg +efavirenz and - to exlcude a work eg -efavirenz.
PDFs and other file formats
Search results identify PDFs and other file formats like Word documents and PowerPoint slidesets. Following the link will open the document and search within the document for the words you are looking for.
